Lavande, Mûrier, Romarin, Sarriette, Farigoulette… our 15 flats, ranging from studios to six rooms in size, some of which are rated 3 or 4 stars – plus 3 rooms, if you are staying for just a night or do not need the amenities of a flat – each have their own, distinctive personality and welcome you into a typically Provencal setting.

Not to mention all the comforts one appreciates on holiday, or for a stay of any length: kitchen equipped with dishwasher, fireplace, television and self-serve laundry.

Two of our gites on the garden level are accessible to the mobility impaired.

A common courtyard gives the old mas that small village feel, where every gite has a table reserved to enjoy meals outside and take advantage of the barbecue.

a fully functional kitchen nook decorated in true Provencal style, or a superb living area with an old fireplace: each gite boasts its own delightful style and personality… as well as direct access to the swimming pool, and the old bread oven converted into a barbecue.

History

When Marquis Félix du Muy died in the 19th century, he left the Château d’Ollières to his son. His daughter inherited the Abbaye de Saint-Hilaire, Plantacier, Les Tourettes and La Marotte.

In 1912, all of these properties were sold by auction to become the Domaine de l’Abbaye de Saint-Hilaire. In 1927, the Société des Salins et Pêcherie d’Hyères bought the estate, restored the abbey and built the workmen’s cottages and various service buildings.

The way Aurelian (via aurélia) Chemin de Compostela passes the Abbey. The route is currently underway. More Information on http://www.compostelle-paca-corse.info/Chemin/chemincompostellepaca.html

Several flat tiles and shards of Gallo-Roman vases, as well as locally made Early Christian common pottery, were unearthed from beneath the ancient glassworks of La Marotte and in the immediate vicinity.

These vestiges would suggest that the site was occupied from the very beginning of our era to the 6th and 7th centuries AD.

The site may have derived its name from the crest of a small hill (“mourretto”) in the 19th century. Unless a phial (“moureto”) abandoned by the last of the glassmakers was its namesake.
